The Coastal Wonderland from Saigon to Nha Trang

The scenic coastal area running from Saigon northeast to Nha Trang boasts the gorgeous beaches of Mui Ne, historic Cham ruins near Phan Rang, and exceptional scuba offerings at Nha Trang. Because the area is not heavily touristed, you'll find many beaches to yourself, the ruins uncrowded, and the people friendly.

Accommodations run from luxury to Spartan in Mui Ne and Nha Trang. In Phan Rang, you'll pretty much have to sort out lodging for your self, unless you're on a tour.

If you're not on a tour, several companies run "open tour" buses from Saigon to Nha Trang and back, where you can stop at Mui Ne for several days, and resume your trip. These companies also run buses to Dalat, creating the possibility of making your own triangular tour from Saigon to Nha Trang, to Dalat, then back to Saigon.

Highlights include the beaches, dunes, and fishing village of Mui Ne, Cham towers at Po Klong Garai, and the pleasant seaside city of Nha Trang.
