Shop Vietnam: Where to buy, and how to buy it
Whether your interest is Vietnam's cutting-edge fashion, or crafts and antiquities, Vietnam is a haven in terms of selection and price, and the cities of Saigon and Hanoi are its focal points.
While you're shopping, why not take a break along the way and relax at one of the many day spas each city has to offer.
Fashion shopping includes everything from large department stores to boutiques owned by individual designers. For an in-depth look at Vietnam's best designers, visit our Fashion Runway page.
Arts, crafts, and antiquities shopping includes lacquerware, silver, terra cotta, textiles, tribal crafts, sculpture, bronzes, and extraordinary wooden carvings.
Markets abound everywhere in Vietnam, and you'll find the best bargains there, although for top quality, high-end antiquities, smaller individual shops are often your best choice.

Buyer warnings!
Buying Vietnamese Art: Read our advice here about fakes, overproduction, imitations, and buying at honest galleries!
Cigars: Nearly all cigars in Vietnam, alleged to be Cuban, are fakes.
If you want to smoke a nice cigar here, bring your own from another country (legitimate Cuban cigars are readily available in Bangkok).
A favorite ploy of the streetside tobacco sellers on Le Loi Street, just west of Dong Khoi in Saigon, is to wrap cheap King Edward Imperials in Monte Christo bands and sell them for $6 USD each; they'll also sell you a complete faked-up box for $125 USD.
